So... I signed up for linky followers since I have been led to believe that doing so was necessary to keep a blog following, and also that it is "easy" to use. Anyone else out there using it? What can you tell me about it? I can't decide if it really is that simple, or if I am missing something. All it is is a place to manage your followers, and the blogs that you follow... correct? What is this talk of widgets? Of course, I think I'll enjoy it more as I grow the collection of blogs that I am following and therefore have more to see. As of today, I've put Linky Followers on my blog, just to see what it was like and because, maybe, some others would prefer to use that instead of GFC to 'follow' my site... as an option for them. At this stage I'm still using Google Reader to manage my blogs. I'm still going to stick with GFC where I have the option. At this stage, GFC is going to stay around for us blogspot blogs. Who knows about the future. The Linky Followers tool is a widget.

So, this may be a dumb question, but if I usually just go to blogspot.com to make a new blog post/ follow other blogs/ check comments... is this using google friend connect, or is that something totally separate that I guess I've never used before? I guess I'm worried that if GFC is discontinued I will lose access to my blog? Sorry I am so naive about all of this and thank you for being so patient with me!
